GEN2 Firmware Update
GEN 2
MG-400 GEN2 Firmware
Six core upgrades. Every press, every tone, every beat — refined.
Firmware updates shouldn’t be footnotes. MG-400 GEN2 is a direct answer to how working guitarists actually use a multi-effects processor on stage and in the studio — from WAH control logic to amp modeling depth to global tempo management.

Amp Modeling
Deep Image Amp ×3 · NAM Loader ×10 · Dual-Engine Architecture
GEN2 introduces a dual-engine architecture in the AMP block. NUX Deep Image delivers precision-modeled amp characters with accurate harmonic structure and dynamic response. NAM Loader opens the door to the community-driven Neural Amp Modeler ecosystem.
Deep Image Amp ×3 — NUX’s proprietary DSP-based modeling technology, capturing an amp’s gain structure, non-linear distortion characteristics, and spatial air.
NAM Loader ×10 — Load community-shared Neural Amp Modeler (.nam) model files. 10 slots let you configure different NAM tones independently across presets.

5 New Types.
Deep Image EFX.
EFX Block · Deep Image Technology · 5 New Effect Types
Deep Image technology extends into the EFX block. GEN2 adds 5 new Deep Image-based effects, expanding your tonal shaping options beyond drive and distortion into new dimensions of character and texture.
Whether placed pre-amp for push and color, or post-amp for sonic refinement, the new Deep Image EFX types integrate seamlessly across the signal chain.

EQ Block · Real-Time dB Value Display · Output Mode
GEN2 adds real-time dB value display to the EQ block’s MODE page. Every band’s boost or cut is shown numerically — no more approximating by feel.
Essential for studio precision and equally valuable for fast stage adjustments when every second counts.

FAQ
Q How do I update the MG-400 to Firmware GEN2?
Connect your MG-400 via USB and use the official NUX NMP software (NUX Multi-Effects Software) to install the update. Always back up your presets before proceeding — the update process itself does not erase presets, but it’s good practice.
Q What is the difference between NAM Loader and Deep Image Amp?
NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) is an open-format machine-learning amp modeling standard. The NAM Loader lets you import community-created .nam files. Deep Image is NUX’s proprietary high-precision amp modeling engine. They’re complementary: Deep Image offers maximum accuracy for specific characters, NAM Loader offers virtually limitless expansion.
Q Does the WAH block require an external expression pedal?
No. The MG-400 has a built-in expression pedal. Hold the PEDAL button to activate WAH mode and use the onboard pedal to control sweep. GEN2 includes 4 WAH type options.
Q What exactly does Global TAP do?
With Global TAP enabled, the tempo set via TAP (or direct BPM input) is applied to all presets’ time-based effects simultaneously. Switching presets mid-performance will no longer break tempo sync across Delay and Modulation.
Q What is the BPM range for direct input mode?
Hold the TAP button to access direct BPM input. You can set values from 40 to 240 BPM, covering ballads, blues shuffles, rock, and extreme metal tempos.
